Why do we still bow down to kings?

Isn't feudalism and the concept of kings an antiquated institution from the Middle Ages? So then why do we still bow down to kings? You know which kings I am referring to.. They sit on their vast oil reserves.

A recent FoxNews Headline reads "President Bush Unable to Win Saudi Support on Gas Prices, Oil Production". So, in other words, our president has to travel to a foreign country and ask for the support of kings so that you and I are not forced to pay $4/gallon for gas.

For a country like the United States, with its vast resources and endless supply of brilliant scientists, inventors, and businesspeople, how utterly absurd is this?

If you were to take the collective vision and brain power of the many brilliant scientists you have here and harness them, I am sure a viable and working alternative energy solution could be fully functional in this country within 5 years. Solar power, wind power, geothermal power; Power from non-food based biofuels.. Power from algae, trash. There is energy all around us.

Do you recall the Manhattan Project? The Manhattan Project was an effort by the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada to develop the first atomic bomb during World War II (You can read more about the Manhattan Project here). The reason I bring up the Manhattan Project is this: During a time of great need, this country unified its resources and brought forth a vast and brilliant army of scientists to bring about a paradigm shift.

Well, we are once again in a time of great crisis. The question is, where is the motivation to get off the reliance on foreign oil? Do we really want to keep bowing down to kings? Think about it.
