Surprise! Senate Republicans Vote Against Oil Taxes

Gas is over $4 a gallon, but Senate Republicans have chosen to vote against new taxes against big oil. In case you had any doubts who's interests Congress serves, let those doubts be erased by this latest event.
According to an article on Fox News, "GOP senators shoved aside the Democratic proposal, arguing that punishing Big Oil won't do a thing to lower the $4-a-gallon-price of gasoline that is sending economic waves across the country."
So don't worry folks! Go back to your iPhones and American Idol. Your elected officials will take care of everything for you. Did you have any doubt whatsoever that they wouldn't? They are, after all, your government, and governments never lie and are always there to benefit their people.. aren't they?
Let's all just smile and keep paying that $4+/gallon gas! And when it hits $10/gallon, we'll keep on smiling, and telling each other our favorite sport scores or who won on American Idol around the water cooler.
..Or, maybe a better idea would be to hold those in Congress accountable and make them serve the will of the American People? Perhaps it's time to start calling your local Congress representatives and letting them know?
