As I read through some blogs in light of the recent Scott McClellan incident, I am coming across certain articles that praise McClellan for speaking out against the Bush administration. (One such posting is a response to our awarding McClellan Bullshitter of the Week. It can be found at Buzz Flash). The general vibe I get from some of these articles is that we should somehow feel grateful for McClellan for taking such a bold, honorable move.

This is utter nonsense, and let me tell you why; Coming clean after the fact does not absolve you of the crimes you were an accessory to previously. As I was discussing this topic with Edmund Ross, he had this to say:

"He [The blog poster] definitely missed the point [of the Political Bull article criticizing McLellan]. What that guy was basically saying is that we should praise anyone who eventually admits he was wrong despite years of complicity. By the same logic we should praise Sammy "the Bull" Gravano because he eventually testified against his boss, John Gotti and forget the fact that he spent a decade working for Gotti and admitted to killing more than 19 people in that time. I'm sorry but when something is wrong and you play along until you get the opportunity to come clean by selling your book your are a Bullshitter, which is exactly what we awarded him."

Very well said indeed. Where was McClellan when the world needed him to step forward and tell us what was really going on? I am sorry but McClellan gets no praise here.

We already know what a tremendous miscalculation the Bush Administration has been instrumental in creating these past 8 years. We don't need Scott to tell us now; It would have been nice several years ago. Now, it's just a little too late.

McClellan was there on the bandwagon along with all of them; Worst yet, he was the spokesperson for that bandwagon. So now who gives a shit about anything else he has to say?
