Preparing for tough economic and sociopolitical times
By Joseph Perce The Four Horsemen. The sky turning to fire. Stuff falling out of the sky. Perhaps it will not be this dramatic. Independence Day aliens aren't going to appear in the sky and blow up our cities. But, what are you going to do if...
..Gas is $12/gallon and there are widespread food shortages? It does not take a rocket scientist to realize we are living in tough economic times. Many of the things we take for granted now are being sustained by a tightly choreographed sequence of logistics.
What exactly happens when these steps break down? With skyrocketing fuel prices, trucks are going to have a tougher time making their way across our country, and trucks are the lifeblood of the economy. Food prices are already escalating worldwide as well.
My point with all this is not to run off into a bunker in the middle of South Dakota. However, there is nothing wrong with being a little prepared. Do you have extra food and water? Do you know who your neighbors are, or at least have someone you can contact in case of emergency? Perhaps now is the time to take such matters into consideration?
