Notorious for his anti-Israel remarks, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad actually spoke some words of wisdom the other day.

According to an article on Yahoo, Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying, "At a time when the growth of consumption is lower than the growth of production and the market is full of oil, prices are rising and this trend is completely fake and imposed".

Mr. Ahmadinejad, as despised he seems to be by our country's administration, seems to have hit the nail right on the head. For example, according to an article in the New York Times, "The company [Exxon] reported... that it beat its own record for the highest profits ever recorded by any company, with net income rising 3 percent, to $40.6 billion, thanks to surging oil prices. The company’s sales, more than $404 billion, exceeded the gross domestic product of 120 countries."

An excerpt from another article on NewsVOA.com reads, "Oil giants Royal Dutch Shell and BP announced record profits for the first quarter of this year, driven by the surging price of crude oil".

So.. What is wrong with this picture? Let's put two and two together! Big oil has made record profits! We are paying over $4 for gas. As wacky as some of the things that Ahmadinejad says sometimes are, this isn't one of them.

It is really a sad state of affairs that we have to learn this from Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
