Between Nixon and George W. Bush, the title of "Worst President Ever" tips in Bush's favor. Here's why..
Under the Bush Administration, we were plunged into a war under false pretenses that has resulted in hundreds of billions of dollars wasted, tens of thousands of lives lost, and international respect for the United States eroded.
You would think that gaining access to the second biggest oil fields in the world would at least provide for cheap fuel at home. Not a chance! CNN's June 6, 2008 Headline reads, "Breaking News: Oil settles at a record $138.54 a barrel, up $10.75, on weak dollar and forecast that crude will hit $150 by July 4".
The hundreds of billions of dollars that have been wasted on this war so far could have been put to better use by bringing about a renewable energy revolution in this nation.
Yet another failure of the Bush Administration was the complete mismanagement of the Katrina Hurricane disaster. Trailers sat empty as people were homeless; Millions of dollars went unaccounted for.
How about the Afghanistan war? What happened to finding Bin Laden? Afghanistan is slowly slipping back under the influence of the Taleban.
Or, how about the fact that we are on the brink of and, according to some, already in an economic recession. Under the Bush Administration, predatory lending practices went unchecked, resulting in a real estate bubble. Unemployment rates jumped to 5.5 percent today; The biggest rise since 1986.
And despite the failed war in Iraq, there is already talk of a possible future war with Iran. Does this administration not learn from its mistakes, nor care about the will of the American people?
The final legacy this administration leaves for the future, the effects of which we are yet to tally. Yet judging by what they have done so far clearly makes George W. Bush the worst president in the history of this country.
