Are People Lying In The Polls A La New Hampshire?
Don’t relax just because the polls show Obama is leading. We must be kidding ourselves to really believe that Obama’s lead over McCain is any more real than the lead he had over Hillary in the New Hampshire primary. It just doesn’t seem possible that the same people who voted for a white, good-ol’-boy “from Texas”, changed their minds in a span of four years to cast a vote for an educated, “black” man from Hawaii/Illinois. It is a big mistake to assume the race is over. Keep people focused on the real issues, because the polls may be as wrong as they were in New Hampshire.

All the recent polling that shows Obama ahead of McCain reminds me of the polling done before the Democratic New Hampshire primary. Obama had a significant lead in the polls over Clinton, yet lost in the actual election results. The experts couldn’t come up with any better explanation than that the people lied in the polls.
I think the general election is going to be just like New Hampshire. I think the people are lying again. In the privacy of the voting moment I believe people will turtle, wilt, fade, cower, go brain dead, let their racism shine, call it what you will, but it’s really hard to imagine the red states going from Bush to Obama in the span of 4 years. Granted these were rough years, but like child birth, at the critical moment all the pain will be forgotten and McCain will be swept into office along with America’s newest sweetheart.
All the 24 hour news programs will be busy analyzing how they missed this outcome. The rest of us will be dumb-struck by what we have done: at least four more years of fiasco government of, by and for the rich. The far left will say the results came from voting machine fraud, but lying in the pre-election polls will have been the real “culprit”. Maybe then the blue state people will finally realize that yes, the US is THAT stupid.
No amount of logic will work on people who are not awake and paying attention to the issues. Flag pins, skin color, religion, manners, athletic ability, drinking ability, will always be more important to the majority of Americans than government representation of corporations rather than of we-the-people. Issues that are supposed to be separate from government take center stage over the issues that will help or hurt the American people. “Send my job overseas, pollute the air, take away my retirement, I don’t care! There is no way I’m voting for a guy who didn’t wear a lapel pin when I wanted him to wear it! No, you can’t fool me I know good character when I see it.”
Remember, these are the same people who decided that a guy who dodged the draft by calling in a favor from his rich daddy was less of an elitist and more of a war hero than a guy who actually fought in Vietnam during that war. If you start to get into a debate with one of these people, walk away and save your breath because, “You can’t fix stupid.”
Save your battles for those who are more open and cannot decide which candidate is best. If they start talking about flag pins and religion, stay calm and don’t get angry. These are the type of people that will vote for McCain just to spite you because you came across as superior, “High and mighty”. They will vote for McCain just so they can get in your face and say, “Ha, I showed you! You lost!” So, try to remain calm until November 5th so that none of us “lose”. Remember, “With malice toward none.”
