Conspiracy Theories Detract from the Real Reason Things Suck
by Joseph Perce
Alien sightings in trailer parks. UFO particle beams knocking down the twin towers. The president is actually the head of the Illuminati. These are among the many conspiracy theories you will find that attempt to explain away the state of the world today.
One has only to open an internet site and browse a few pages to find a really bizarre, albeit interesting, explanation as to the cause of world events today. Did you hear that Saddam possessed a high energy device and was on the verge of discovering anti-gravity and time travel - Well, that was the REAL reason for the invasion of Iraq! Or, did you hear about the Israeli-Mossad conspiracy? Well, according to this conspiracy theory, the Israeli Mossad has managed to infilitrate every government on every country on earth and is now clandestinely running a one world government from the offices of Tel Aviv. Far fetched? Definitely. Is there some truth to the latter (Saddam's particle beams aside), perhaps some truth. Does Israel, for example, have some significant influence in certain countries of the world? That would be a resounding yes. But, to go to the point where there are conspiracy theories that aliens, Mossad, flying saucers, and Saddam with particle beams are conspiring to run a one world government is missing the point.
And just what is the point? Ladies and gentleman, I'll tell you - it is much simpler than that. It comes down to basic human greed. Is there a One World Government bent on global control of resources? Maybe.. Are they run by aliens, Illuminati, and strange Satanic cults? Who knows? But isn't it more realistic to accept that all this mess that we have today is as a result of a group of greedy individuals whose sole motivation is to achieve financial gains and power - at any cost?
One has only to take a look at the actual situation occurring in Iraq at the present time to begin to understand the extent of how greed shapes and influences events. Iraq is an oil rich country; some say it has the second largest reserves in the world (Next to Saudi Arabia, who are our "friends"). Yet, the reasons for the war was the Saddam was abusing his own people, guilty of genocide and what-not. I ask you then - Where is all the concern regarding dozens of other countries in the world currently who's dictatorial regimes are openly committing war crimes against their people. Take a look at Sudan - There is no question that there are innocent people dying there on a daily basis; Ethnic cleansing is indeed taking place. So where is all the concern? The concern is centered around, "What can I get out of this?" Well, there's no oil in Sudan - at least non worth mentioning.
Do you really think that people are as altruistic as they like to come across - especially those in power? If you honestly believe that, it is time for you to take some remedial history courses at a local community college. What motivates certain people more than anything else is greed and above all else "power". Why? I don't know why personally. In the end, it doesn't really matter anyway. But to some, apparently this is the end-all goal to accomplish. And in the process, who suffers? Innocent people who simply want to live their lives.
Yes, if you look past all the BS - All the "We are liberating them, bringing democracy to them" - all the "We want to bring democracy to them".. you will see one simple explanation. That explanation can be summarized with the following, "Hey, I'm the biggest asshole on the block. I can kick your ass, AND I like that car you own - so I will simply take it, because I CAN."
Ladies and gentleman, there are no aliens. If aliens were in fact here, they'd have seen what backwards, underevolved monkeys we all are and would have taken off decades ago.
"The Truth is out there" - It's just not flying saucers, Mossad super-Illuminati, or trailer park abductees with implants claiming the world is coming to an end. The truth has to do with a bunch of greedy shitheads who covet power - at any expense.
