These are critical parts of the discussion that you are avoiding.
No current biofuel production would make a sound business case without government subsidy. Bio fuels are less efficient when used to power cars, less MPG. So when we mix bio fuels with current gasoline we are getting less MPG out of our fuel and actually using more fuel. The added cost of ethanol causes the price at the pump to be inflated as well. Maybe the bio fuels industry should buy more coal for the power stations that are working harder so that they can expend 1.4 times the energy given out by ethanol to produce it?
