My fellow Americans are a tough group of people. They will endure through calamitous times and pull together when the going gets tough. They are easy going people that will tolerate a great deal. But, there comes a time, when you push them too much, and they rise up and make their voices heard. This is exactly what happened on November 4th, 2008 - A day that has gone down in history.

Americans do not continue on paths that will lead them to nowhere. When they realize the direction they are headed is not good for the country or for their themselves, they re-evaluate this course and make the changes necessary to bring about a new direction.

The past 8 years have been a monumental failure; failure after repeated failure that has shaken the faith of the American People in their government and tarnished the standing of this great country in the world.

Americans are not content to perpetuate this failure. We are a proud people; We are a people who learn from our mistakes and strive to better our country, not only for ourselves and our children, but for all of humankind. We simply will not accept being second rate, nor will we allow ourselves to move away from the principles of democracy.

Democracy is what you witnessed yesterday on election day 2008; The collective voices of the American People have been heard. The time for change has in fact come. While no one can claim to know what the future will bring, a new path now lies before us - A path lit with the light of hope.
